In US dollar terms, the global equity market registered a stellar total return of roughly 22 percent in 2017. While no other asset class – apart from cryptocurrencies – rivaled equities, basically all asset lasses have been boosted by two powerful factors: favorable monetary policies, still, and the increasingly synchronized global economic expansion.
